PEIMQG Charitable Endeavours

One of our goals, when we formed the PEIMQG was to be able to help others in our community and abroad. We are able to do this because of the talent and generosity of our guild members. We had a very ambitious start to our charity endeavours in 2016. Here are the 3 charities that we have been focused on to date.

Montague "Meals on Wheels"

We approached Meals on Wheels about donating placemats for the residents of Montague. They requested enough for the 25 residents to whom they deliver meals. Our members not only met this need, they exceeded it, with 33 completed placemats donated to this wonderful cause.  Thank you Liz for co-ordinating this effort.

Quilts For Fort MacMurray

By now, most people are aware of the devastation that impacted the community of Fort MacMurray, Alberta.  The quilting community was asked to donate quilts to families who have lost everything in the fires.  We asked our members to donate some completed quilts. Our members did not disappoint. We had a large number of quilts brought to the June Sew-In.

We also had a few more donated during our June meeting. Thank you to Susan for arranging the shipment of these quilts to the people impacted by the destruction of the Fort MacMurray fire. Quilts for Pulse

Most recently, we were shocked by the events that took place at Pulse, a nightclub in Orlando. The Orlando MQG immediately put out the call for donation quilts. These quilts are to be distributed to the families and survivors of this tragedy.  We know nothing can make up for the loss of friends and loved ones, but hopefully with these quilts, they will feel wrapped in all our love and support.

We hope to have 1 completed quilt, and 1 quilt top for donation to this worthy cause. For more information, please check out the following links from the Modern Quilt Guild and the Orlando MQG.
